OLX releases a report of P21 billion untapped value of unused items in PH

Do you have have unused items that are still functional? How about pre-loved items that are still good condition? If yes, it’s time to say “Yesss, Yaman!, a campaign that promotes the act of selling unused items and earning from it.


The “Yesss, Yaman” is promoted by OLX—formerly This campaign helps to educate Filipinos on the untapped wealth sitting in their homes and the value of online selling of secondhand items.


Recently, OLX Philippines has just released a new study that shows approximately P21-billion worth of previously used but still in good condition items are just left to gather dust in Filipino households. The survey was conducted by Internet-based sales platform, TNS, during June to July, 2014.

In the recent presscon, OLX  Philippines Head of Operations Arianne David and Managing Director RJ David showed a presentation how Filipinos can earn from their unused items or from stuff their they don’t need. They also introduced the Yaman Checklist,  a list of things that are in good conditions, to list it down, and see the total possible earnings from it.


Would you believe the value of unused items of all surveyed 500 households for old but functional computers are estimated to be worth P3.8 billion while mobile phones are worth P3.5 billion. Unused clothing is estimated to be worth P1.5 billion while kitchen appliances are at P1.08 billion. Wow! Just imagine how much cash people can make when they sell their good condition items.

Based also on the survey, many Filipinos are interested in selling their unused items over the web. About 41 percent of respondents said they are comfortable selling their pre-loved items, while 56 percent of those who have plans of selling unused items said they are open to selling those online.
