Miss France Iris Mittenaere was declared as 65th Miss Universe winner during the coronation day held on Monday at the Mall Of Asia Arena, Pasay, Philippines. The big event was hosted by Steve Harvey and Ashley Graham.
Miss France bested 85 contestants from around the world including Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier, the first runner-up, and Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar, the second runner-up.
The top 12 semifinalists selected by the judges after the preliminary competition were Miss France Iris Mittenaere, Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar, Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier, Miss USA Deshauna Barber, Miss Brazil Raissa Santana, Miss Canada Siera Bearchell, Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw, Miss Mexico Kristal Silva, Miss Kenya Mary Esther Ware, Miss Peru Valeria Piazza, Miss Panama Keity Drennan, and Miss Philippines Maxine Medina. Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane got the last spot (Top 13) as she picked by the fans.
Miss Brazil, Miss Indonesia, Miss Peru and Miss Panama did not make it to the top 9 while Miss Canada, Miss Mexico and Miss USA were cut for the top 6. Miss Columbia, Miss France and Miss Haiti remained on the top 3.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines passed the crown to the new Miss Universe, Iris Mittenaere of France.
On the other hand, Miss Myanmar bagged the best national costume award, whose costume included a theater backdrop.
