IBM has survived and thrived for 100 years by staying relevant, sustaining a culture of working for a higher purpose, while being ready to take big and bold bets as necessary. This has allowed us to transform technology, business and society, and we believe it will enable us to achieve our objective of making the world even better in our second country,” said James Velasquez, General Manager , IBM Philippines.
“In order to succeed for the long term, you must manage for the long term. This the key lesson IBM has learned over 100 years,” he added
International Business Machines Corp., more commonly known as IBM, celebrates 100 years of social service by supporting the 2nd phase of the “Save the La Mesa Watershed Project” of Bantay Kalikasan , ABS CBN Foundation’s environmental arm by adopting 800 trees last July 2 at ECOPARK Quezon City.
IBM’s Celebration of Service honors their employees, retirees, and business partners in their commitment to volunteer service. And by supporting Bantay Kalikasan in its commitment to look after the environment by rehabilitating and protecting La Mesa Watershed, they will be able to donate their hours of service for community advocacy program like this project.

IBM employees, retirees and business partners and their families and friends collaborate together in a day of pure fun and exciting activities. The event was called the IBM Blue Jungle wherein everyone can join the FLORA ( Tree Planting) and FAUNA (Eco-Amazing-Race). Other than that, some of the IBM employees performed on stage with their talent in singing and dancing.
Wrapping up the event, IBM employees and guest participants who joined the Eco-Amazing Race and Q&A went home with cool prizes.
I really admired IBM for doing this kind of activities especially for raising awareness of environmental and community involvement in protecting our environment. And that’s a really GOOD JOB!
