The NBA’s favourite arcade game, Coors Light NBA Pop-A-Shot is back in Manila.

NBA and Coors, the official beer partner of the NBA in the Philippines, have brought back the globally popular, carnival-style arcade basketball shooting tournament to the Metro Manila bar scene for the second consecutive year. The first leg of the Coors Light NBA Pop-A-Shot 2011 took off at Flight Bar in Scout Borromeo, Quezon City, an airport terminal-themed bar this past weekend from August 18-20.

Jericho Sy of Antipolo, a 22 year old marketing student from Trinity University of Asia, topped the Flight leader board with 435, followed by Christian Kho (427), Erick Go (348), Patrick Alba (339) and Morris Relucio (332).

The next Coors NBA Pop-A-Shot stop will be at Blue Onion Bar in Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City from August 25 – 27, followed by SM MOA Baywalk from September 1-3, and Greens and Grills at Festival Mall in Alabang from September 8-10. A final leg will be held at the end of September with the final venue to be announced.

All that bar habitués have to do is purchase two bottles of Coors Light Beer to be able to play two 30-second games for the night, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. The top five scorers of each venue will advance to the Coors Light NBA Pop-A-Shot Final Challenge at the end of September, with the winner getting a unique NBA experience.

NBA talent will attend the Finals to add more excitement to the challenge of beating the clock while shooting as many basketballs as possible into an authentic NBA Pop-A-Shot machine.

The principle of Pop-A-Shot is that practice and a little skill can make one a winner on any given night. Part of the game’s charm is that any Joe can be good at it, and even beat the pros with good hand-eye coordination, endurance and the ability to perform well while enjoying some beer.
