Thousand of Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families joined the 2nd OFW and Family Summit 2012’s Hanep na ang Buhay dahil may Hanapbuhay, held last November 22, 2012 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
The event was opened through a ribbon cutting ceremony participated by Sen. Manny Villar, Villar Foundation’s Managing Director, Cythia Villar, Go Negosyo’s Joey Concepcion and Mon Lopez, Entrepreneurs, friends from the media and among others.
Upon entering the big tent, lots of exhibit stalls and booths welcome OFW and their families, that showcase their interesting products and services. The Villar Foundation booth really caught my attention because of its unique display of woven handicrafts such as baskets, bags, placemats, lamps, hampers, among many more customized items. These items are made of water Hyacinth. Is that sounds interesting?
I also noticed business offerings that can give OFWs and their families’ ideas or examples on where to invest their hard-earned money.
OFWs and other attendees listened from various speakers and Ms. Cynthia Villar with insights and tips on entrepreneurship. The topics were about franchising, direct selling, real estate salesmanship, product consignments, distributorship etc.
I learned a lot of things from all the speakers. They opened my eye that it’s better to put a business as early as possible.“ Sipag and Tiyaga are the keys for the success. Lastly, you need to believe on yourself and the passion on putting up a business. Eventually, all these things are for yourself and for your family.
The main highlight of the event was the raffle of big prizes like Camella house and lot, food cart business packages, Livelihood or ‘kabuhayan’ packages such as Aling Puring sari-sari store items of Puregold, motorcycles from Motortrade, Kettle Korn franchises, among many more. Congrats to all the winners!
The 2nd OFW & Family Summit is really an event that full of business ideas and livelihood opportunities. See you on the 3rd summit.
