Have you heard the word “Afamsterdam? How about the gay lingo “Afam?” It’s referring to a foreigner assigned in Manila who work or is visiting the country for whatever reasons.
You will understand better the word “Afam” in the latest offering of TV5, “Kano Luvs Pinay,” a TV adaptation of the award-winning CineFilipino movie “Turkey Man ay Pabo Rin.” It stars premier commedianne Tuesday Vargas and American actor Lee O’Brien.
The new romantic comedy show is centered to a Pinay single parent, Cookie Bigoy ( Tuesday Vargas) and an AfAmsterdam, Matthew Adams (Lee O’Brian) whose love story started on virtual site www.kanoluvspinay.com. The upcoming series also talks about online dating, Filipino humor, family values, friendship and other interesting stories with moral lessons and moral values.
Other cast members include veteran actors Bobby Garovillo and Ces Quesada as the overbearing parents of Cookie, model turned actress Wilma Doesnt asOsang, the ever-afam-friend supportive best friend of Cookie, theater actress Kiki Baento as Girli, the other best friend of Cookie.
Also starring in ‘Kano Luvs Pinay’ are young actors Martin Escudero, Eula Caballero and Chok Chok Venida.
Watch the hilarious relationship of Cookie and Matthew, as they conquer all no matter what their differences in culture, language and status in life.
