To encourage media practitioners to look into national social concerns, Globe has tapped the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) to be part of the 3rd Cebu Media Excellence Awards (CMEA).
Created by Globe in 2012, CMEA recognizes Cebu-based print, broadcast, and digital media practitioners who do not only excel in their respective fields, but also promote social advocacy.
Categories in the competition include Explanatory/Investigative Story of the Year for Print, Explanatory/Investigative Story of the Year for Broadcast, Reporter of the Year for Print, Reporter of the Year for TV, Reporter of the Year for Radio, Columnist of the Year, Photojournalist of the Year, Social Media Advocate of the Year, and Blogger of the Year.
As in the previous year, entries shall explore and promote the following advocacies: business and entrepreneurship, information and communications technology, environment and disaster response, governance and social progress and youth and education.
PCIJ will provide strategic direction and leadership for the Explanatory/Investigative Story of the Year Award, one of the highlights of the event.
Search period is from August 2013 until July 18, 2014 with the announcement of nominees to be made on August 15, 2014.
This year’s CMEA will be held on September 25, coinciding with the annual Cebu Press Freedom Week.
