One of the tourist spots in Negros Oriental that is being compared to Maldives is now trending on Facebook. This white gem in the south is called Manjuyod Sandbar also known as Sumapao Shoal. It has powdery sands, crystal clear water and relaxing cottages.

Manjuyod Sandbar is located at the North Bais Bay in the Tañon Strait. This 7-kilometer stretch of white sandbar has an area of about 600-hectares. It can be reached be reached from Capiñahan wharf via a short 15 minute boat ride.
The reason why it’s compared to Maldives, it has native wooden cottages that look like they’re floating on crystal clear water. The water is not deep and you can see the white sand and some sea creatures.
How to get to Manjuyod Sandbar
*From Dumaguete airport, take a tricycle and tell the driver to drop you off in bus terminals that has Dumaguete-Bais trip
*From the terminal, take a bus or van bound for Bais or Manjuyod. Travel time is around 1-2 hours.
*Then, take a boat from Capinahan Wharf at South Bais Bay in Bais Negros Oriental

–It’s advisable to go to Manjuyod Sandbar during summer season like from March to May
–The sandbar is submerged during high tide
–Seucre your mobile phones, camera or other gadgets with plastice or put it on a dry bag
–Dumaguete City is accessible via Cebu, Bohol, and Dipolog
–You can find some cheap/affordable room accommodation in Dumaguete City and Bais City
–It’s better to book your flight directly to Dumaguete City
–Don’t expect too much on the this place. You can find lots of boats around the area
–Be careful with the shellfish and sea urchins
–For cottage rate and food package, contact the Manjuyod Tourism Office
–Include on your itinerary the Dolphin/ Whale tour
