La Salle Dance Company-Street of De La Salle University-Manila (College category) and LSGH Airforce of La Salle Greenhills (High School category) hailed as the champions for this year’s Skechers Street Dance Battle 8.
The 10 High School and 16 Colleges & Universities Dance Crews joined together in SM Arena for the final battle where finalists went to head head onstage to earn ultimate bragging rights as the countrys supreme dance crew, held on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
The event was hosted by the very cool DJ Sam YG and host/dancer Gab Valenciano.
DLSU bestest 15 dance crews: Exude Dancers of the Far Eastern University-East Asia College; ICI Dance Company of Immaculate Concepcion International; UdM E Stars of Universidad de Manila; OC Performing Arts of Olivarez College; Assumption Dance Company of Assumption College; Saint Benilde Romancon Dance Company of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde; FEU Dance Company of the Far Eastern University-Manila; and La Consolacion College Manila Dance Troupe of La Consolacion College Manila, PLM Iskolars Dance Incorporated of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila; Company of Ateneo Dancers of Ateneo de Manila University; UP Manila Indayog Dance Varsity of the University of the Philippines-Manila; Groove One of the Philippine School of Business Administration; PATTS Dance Company of PATTS College of Aeronautics; Lyceum Spartans Dance Troupe of the Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna; and UPLB Street Jazz Dance Company of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños.
UPLB Street Jazz Dance Company of the University of the Philippines-Los Banos got the 1st runner up (college category) while Company of Ateneo Dancers of Ateneo de Manila University was the college 2nd runner up.
On the other hand, LSGH Airforce defeated 9 high school dance crews in the final battle; Indayog ng Atenistang Kabataan (INDAK) of Ateneo de Manila High School; Claret Hataw of Claret School of Quezon City; High Impact of Marist School – Marikina; Sayawatha Dance Troupe of Miriam College High School; DANSSA School of St. Anthony; Terpsichore of St. Paul College – Pasig; Dance X of Xavier School; CSA Dance Troupe of Colegio San Agustin; and Campus Image Revolve of St. Mark’s Institute.
Terpsichore of St. Paul College-Pasig got the high school 1st runner up while CSA Dance Troupe of Colegio San Agustin took the 2nd runner up.
The streetdance crews winners (college and high school categories) went home Php 100,000 each, plus the title of Skechers Streetdance Battle Champion.
The event was attended by thousand supporters of the 26 dance crews. It was also joined by panel judges of the final battle: Jon Supan, Leal Marie “Lema” Diaz, Kenjohns Serrano, Prince Paltu-ob, Matt “Dumbo” Nguyen of Poreotics and Wilson Ong of Whiplash Dance Company.
The Crew, A-Team and Legit Status graced as well on stage for an amazing and ultimate dance no. to showcase their talent and skills in dancing.
Everyone also enjoyed the Freestyle Showdown where 2 individuals from each dance crews showed their best of the best moves.
Sketchers Street Dance Battle 8 also featured 12 most fashionable dancers (male and female) as they strutted on-stage in their best garbs piared off Skechers. Hiroyuki Shiki of Bulacan State University and Amiel Garces of Miriam College High School delcared as the most fashionable dancers that night. Each of them got Php 10,000 worth of Skechers shoes and Skechers Time watches.
