The Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Society of the Philippines officially opens the 5th CFA Institute Research Challenge (IRC) through a kick off meeting at the Top of the Citi by Chef Jessie in Makati City.
Led by Ms. April Tan, CFA, CFAP President, the event provided the significant information and materials pertinent to this year’s IRC including the revelation of the chosen subject company, Puregold Price Club and the introduction of the industry.
The kick-off meeting was joined by the 7 universities and colleges in the Philippines namely: Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle University-Dasmarinas (DLSU-D). De La Salle University-Manila (DLSU-M), San Beda College (SBC), Southville Foreign University (SFU), University of the Philippines-Vizayas (UP-V) and University of Santo Tomas (UST).
The participating schools mentors are Mark Canizares for UP-Visayas; Mr. Alexis Cabel for UST; Mr. Albert Albert Pulido for DLSU-Dasmarinas; Dr. Raymond Abara, CFA for SBC; Mr. Ernesto Francisco, Jr., CFA for SFU; Mr. George Ching for DLSU-Manila; Ms. Kelly Bate for ADMU.
The winning team will get to chance the chance to represent the country in the regional challenge to be held at the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 22-23, 2-13. The regional will get to compete with top-notch schools in the global finals which will be held in London, United Kingdom on April 12, 2013.
Last year, the University of the Philippines- Diliman won the local finals earning eligibility to represent the country for 20122 Global CFA Institute Research Challenge. UP-D also won the 2010 Global CFA Institute Reserach Challenge held in Hong Kong, besting other international teams.
