In the Philippines, we normally see powdery-white sand beaches in some of the famous tourist destinations like in El Nido, Palawan,  Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Boracay, and others. But did you know that  we also have  black sand beaches.

If Hawaii has Punaluʻu Beach (also called Black Sand Beach), the country has also black sand beaches that can be found in the long coasts of Bacacay, Sto. Domingo and Tiwi in Albay. You will definitely see rare and fascinating black sand beaches. The distinct black sand is created from the millions of years of natural erosion of volcanic rock and which evolved from ground lava and into fine-textured sands. Local folks believe the sand has has therapeutic benefits.
