Mt. Ngusong Kabayo and Mt. Tangwa are opened to the public last November (2016). It is located in Brgy. Laiban which facilitated by local government of Tanay Rizal. These two mountains can be reached via land transportation, which is 2-3 hours drive from Metro Manila.
The jump-off point is located in Brgy. Laiban. According to locals, Mt. Ngusong Kabayo and Mt. Lubo (Tangwa Peak) are part of the Quatro Mountains of Brgy. Laiban. The other two mountains include are Mt. Toyang and Mt. Ulang. These two mountains are considered as minor hiking destinations with 625 MASL.
Going to the summit is not easy during rainy season. The trail s not yet well-established but already visible. It became muddy and slippery if it’s raining. Wearing a pair of slippers is not advisable. You might be slid and stumbled into the ground. Expect also lots of tall cogon grasses and buho – a kind of bamboo along the trail.
At the summit, enjoy the superb 360 view. You can see here the breathtaking view of nearby mountains like Mt. Maynoba, Mt Cayabu, Mt Paliparan and Mt Daraitan.
One of the sidetrips after exploring Mt. Ngusong Kabayo and Mt. Tangwa, you can go to the beautiful Laiban Falls. The water is cold and clear. It’s really refreshing and relaxing to see the flowing water from the falls.
How to get there?
Take a jeepney from Cubao going to Cogeo and tell the driver to drop you of near the jeepney terminal going to Sampaloc-P25
From Cogeo (jeepney terminal), take a jeepney going to Sampaloc and tell the driver to drop you off at Mayagay 1 -P55
Next, take habal habal going to Brgy Laiban -P100

Travel Guide / Tips
- It will take 2-3 hours to reach the summit
- Expect rough and muddy road /trail
- You will pass through a river to reach Laiban Falls (the water level is below the knee)
- Limatics reside in one of the trails
- The mountais is home of Cloud Rat
- It’s advisable to wear sandals/shoes
- Bring enough water and trail food
- Overnight is not yet allowed
- Bring sunblock or travel essentials that will protect you from the direct heat of the sun

- Lomi is availble in one of the Kagawad’s house for only P35
