Blogging is not for everyone. It’s not easy to start an article especially if you have a lot of things in mind. It requires passion and creativity if you want to have a blog. I thought I won’t be able to keep my blog due to my daily job. With the help of brands, PR agencies, and followers, they motivate me to keep writing.
Pinoy Manila was my first blog. It’s a 9-year old lifestyle blog that features fashion, music, travel, gadget, and food. Mostly I write about my personal travel adventures, gadget reviews, and events that I attended. At first, it’s hard for me to write a featuring article because I have a lot of ideas in my mind but I don’t know where to start.
I don’t have a journalism degree or any experience in the media industry. All I know is to write an online journal. With the help of my blogger friends and YouTube videos, I was able to create my own website and write several stories. I didn’t hire anyone to create my own website, everything was produced by myself. This was one of my great achievements.
Blogging taught me a lot of things. It made me smarter. Doing some research is a must before publishing an article. Even it’s a personal blog, you still need to check several factors to make sure you are providing facts. Everyone can see your stories regardless of your niche and target market.
They say that blogging will open a lot of opportunities. Yes, that’s true! I worked with some of the famous brands and companies in the country with the help of my passion for writing. I didn’t expect or plan for that. They’re just contacting me to review their products and services. With the competition between traditional media and bloggers ( new media ), there are lots of companies that believe in the power of blogging. Aside from the cash compensation, they’re giving me free products to try. From clothing, shoes, skincare, to gadgets, I can get these for free in return for a comprehensive review and promoting them on my social media platforms.
I love traveling. With the help of my blog, I was able to travel to my favorite destinations at no cost. It’s truly overwhelming. Some of the resorts and hotels pay for my airfare, room, tour, and food. All I need is to bring myself, my phone and laptop. It’s truly a privilege. Not everyone has the opportunity to have a free all-expenses-paid trip. I must say blogging helps me to travel the world.
Meeting new people and friends is also another good thing about blogging. Every time I attend an event, I meet several personalities. Some of them are from the showbiz industry, the fashion community, mentors, and even politicians. I was able to meet and interview them face to face. Aside from these prominent people, I also met new members of the press, influencers, and bloggers which some of them became my friends.
With all of these perks, I guess some of you are thinking now to have your own blog. Well, that’s good! Please be reminded that blogging is not all about freebies. To start a blog, you need first to think of good content. Don’t think first about the free stuff that you will get. Create quality content and everything will follow.
