If you’re one of the million followers of the first season of The Voice of the Philippines, you know this guy who has a cool voice, singing on stage with his guitar. He is none other than Myk Perez.
Myk is the fourth placer from season one of The Voice of the Philippines. He was from Kamp Kawayan which handled by rock star Bamboo Manalac. Before he entered the final 4, Myk battled against Paolo Onesa. He crooned a cover of ‘Baby I Love Your Way’ in week 5 which brought him into the final to represent team Bamboo.
Yesterday, I attended a bloggers event to meet Myk Perez. It’s nice to see him in person. He’s really a cool guy and down to earth person.
Before we asked some questions about his new album, he serenaded all the people in the room with his beautiful voice. He sang his own composition titled “Honey Under The Moon” and the carrier single “Runaway.”
The 23-year old singer was raised in Puerto Princessa, Palawan. He began singing since he was in secondary where he learns guitar. Perez stated he was initially influenced by R&B and Pop artists such as Bruno Mars and Jason Mraz.
Though he didn’t emerged as winner of the contest, his talent is simply hard to pass, paving the way him to sign a record and management contract with the number one music company in the Philippines-MC Music.
Now, Myk Perez is now a certified recording artist as he releases his debut album “My Acoustic.” It features the carrier single “Runway”, originally by The Corrs, as well other covers like “Easy” (Lionel Richie, “Why” (Avril Lavigne), and Clarity (John Mayer), also includes recorded versions of his performances from the Voice of the Philppines like the original song “Fix You”, Chasing Pavements, Give Me Love”, “Baby I Love Your Way.”
Myk shared most of the songs in the album are some of his personal choice specially the carrier single. Actually, I really like his rendition of Runaway and Why, which two of my favorite songs of all time.
“My Acoustic”, the debut album by Myk Perez, is now out in CDs under MCA Music and through digital downloads via spnnr.ph and iTunes
Catch Myk Perez at the following malls: March 22 (Saturday) at SM Masinag, March 23 (Sunday) at SM Rosales, May 4 (Sunday) at SM Sucat and May 10 (Saturday) at SM Calamba. All shows start at 5pm.
