Watsons’ is proud to present its inaugural Sustainability Exhibit in partnership with drybrush Gallery, featuring a remarkable collection of artworks crafted from reused materials. Sustainability lies at the core of Watsons’ values, and as a leading health, wellness, and beauty retailer, the company continuously strives to educate and inspire customers to contribute to a better planet for future generations.
With sustainability ingrained in its corporate strategy, Watsons has implemented initiatives such as Sustainable Choices and encourages employee volunteerism, setting an example for customers to follow suit. As part of its commitment to sustainability and to celebrate Filipino artistry, Watsons has joined forces with drybrush Gallery to unveil “Reuse with Watsons: A Sustainability Art Exhibit” at drybrush Gallery, located in SM MOA Square, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
Through this art exhibit, Watsons aims to raise public awareness about the importance of reusing by showcasing stunning art pieces created from discarded materials. These materials include plastic bottles/containers, plastic wrappers and containers, paper/carton boxes/tissue, blister packs, metals, sponges, foam, brushes, and cosmetics collected from Watsons’ Recycle for Rewards Campaign and products found in Watsons Stores. The exhibit serves as an educational platform, inspiring individuals to embrace the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3Rs) to safeguard our planet’s future.
The talented participating artists were challenged to incorporate these discarded materials sourced from Watsons Stores into their artworks. Among the entries, the three most outstanding pieces that best align with the exhibit’s theme will be selected for recognition. The lineup of featured artists is an impressive roster, including Iñigo Acuña, Astrid Anabo, Neptalie Unzo, Arnel Borja, Meijan Cabagay, Ape Castillo, Jeff Dahilan, Ronwaldo Dasal, Cesar Dela Torre, Angelo Delola, Daniel Dumaguit, Noli Española, Juno Galang, Esther Garcia, Ann Gatdula, Loise Angelo Go, Edgardo Granada, Anne Labesores, Ronald Limayo, Linggit (Briks Benigno), Ricardo Mallari, Ron Masaga, Luisito “Jon” Paras, Pancho Piano, Isah Rodillo, Roland Rosacay, Ferdinand Sanchez, James Sanorjo Jr., JL Timbreza-Siao, Dominic Urbano, and Ariel Villalobos.
The selection of the top three artists will be based on three criteria: Creative Reuse (50%), evaluating the extent to which discarded materials are creatively repurposed and transformed into the artwork; Aesthetic Appeal (30%), considering the visual impact, artistic quality, composition, use of color, texture, and overall craftsmanship; and Environmental Message (20%), assessing the artwork’s ability to convey a message of environmental sustainability, raise awareness about the significance of reusing and waste reduction, and inspire individuals to adopt more eco-friendly practices.
Watsons expresses its gratitude to drybrush Gallery for their invaluable collaboration in making this endeavor possible. The company also extends heartfelt appreciation to the participating local artists, who have wholeheartedly dedicated their talents to creating sustainable art pieces using Watsons’ products. Their passion and love for our planet are commendable.
