The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) jointly unveiled recently a unified brand, Passion Made Possible, to market Singapore internationally for tourism and business purposes. The agencies’ first joint brand is a bold move to put forth Singapore’s unique attitude and mindset: a passionate, never-settling spirit of determination and enterprise that constantly pursues possibilities and reinvention.
In the last 50 years, Singapore has built a strong reputation as a global business and tourism hub, recognised for its quality infrastructure, safety, stability, connectedness and accessibility. However, global competition to attract tourists and investments has intensified, and the media landscape has become more crowded and complex. Visitors have become more discerning in their travel choices, seeking to immerse themselves in cultures and build deeper connections with destinations, while international businesses want to create new solutions that make a difference. The unified brand thus aims to communicate the country’s value proposition in addressing the needs of travellers and companies, and help Singapore stand out on the international stage. Aiming to showcase their top form in the face of competition, and achieve glory for the country, the Philippines’ top athletes are all set for the 2015 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore. Athletes from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam will converge in the host island nation for the biennial multi-sports event. The SEA Games will feature 36 sports and 402 events where Filipinos are expected to bag top honors not only in basketball and boxing, but also in taekwondo, athletics and billiards.
This year’s Philippine delegates in the 28th SEA Games trained hard, locally and abroad, not only to cope with tougher competitors and more intense sports challenges, but also to better their chances of hauling more medals and improving their SEA Games rankings. Apart from relying on their individual skills, Filipino athletes will also need to bank on their teamwork, sheer heart, determination and fighting spirit to battle great odds and overcome disadvantages in the grand sports meet. Last month, I traveled (4) four countries in Asia like Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. It’s a 3 weeks of backpacking journey wherein I stayed in a cheap accommodation, tasted the authenticated dishes at affordable prices, took bus and crossed in the boarder in one country to another country, among others. I also stayed in the house of a traveler who’s almost stranger to me, which the activity is called couch surfing.
