The glitz and glamour of fashion meets art this holiday season as Freeway showcase its latest collection of the most-loved National Artist Collectors’ Series.

Freeway launched the sixth installment of the National Artist Collectors’ Series honoring Vicente Manansala, National Artist for Visual Artists at The Row, Glorietta 5 last October 18. The 22-piece Holiday 2011 collection fashion show/event gathered artists, media friends and bloggers, photographers and the family and friends of Manansala. The event was hosted by model celebrities and trendsetters Tim Yap and Divine Lee.

Vicente Manansala is Philippines National Artist in Visual Arts. He was cubist painter and illustrator. One of his popular master art pieces is the “Madonna of the Slums,” a portrayal of mother and child from the countryside became urban shanty residents once in the city. Manansala also developed transparent cubism (transparent and translucent). An example of this technique is his composition, Kalabaw (Carabao).

Aside from the fashion show, there was a live sketching by the artists from the Kunst Pilipino Group. The talented roster of artists include noted painters in their own right: Aris Bagtas, Sam Bulaga, Allen Casacop, Bill Perez, Emer Casacop, Jo Florendo, LourdesInosanto, LawtonLadao, Mischa Semana and Raquel Molata.

The National Artist Collectors’ Series were wearable, very artistic and colorful print graphic tees and dresses, classic and modern tailored silhouettes that will definitely impress those fashion and art enthusiasts.
