International Business Machines Corp., more commonly known as IBM, celebrates 100 years of social service by supporting the 2nd phase of the “Save the La Mesa Watershed Project” of Bantay Kalikasan , ABS CBN Foundation’s environmental arm by adopting 800 trees last July 2 at ECOPARK Quezon City.

IBM’s Celebration of Service honors their employees, retirees, and business partners  in their commitment to volunteer service. And by supporting Bantay Kalikasan in its commitment to look after the environment by rehabilitating and protecting  La Mesa Watershed, they will be able to donate their hours of service  for community advocacy program like this project.

James G. Velasquez ,President and Country General Manger of IBM Philippines, Johnny Guevarra, President and General Manager of IBM Solutions Delivery Inc., Jewellord “Dod” Peralta, Director Philippines Global Delivery Center  and Cassandra “Candy” Sotto General Manager Philippines Delivery IBM Global Process Services were all present in the event and gave their inspirational thoughts about the company and its employees. Ms. Gina Lopez  also joined with them and discussed her advocacy in No Mining in Palawan.

IBM employees, retirees and business partners and their families and friends collaborate together in a day of pure fun and exciting activities. The event was called the IBM Blue Jungle wherein everyone can join the FLORA ( Tree Planting) and FAUNA (Eco-Amazing-Race). Other than that, some of the IBM employees performed on stage with their talent in singing and dancing.

Wrapping up the event, IBM employees and guest participants  who joined the Eco-Amazing Race and Q&A went home with cool prizes.

I really admired IBM for doing this kind of activities especially for raising awareness of environmental and community involvement in protecting our environment. And that’s a really GOOD JOB!
