Kristine Caballes of University of San Carlos Cebu hailed as the grand winner in the country’s first Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) 2014 held at Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City.
The diverse and creative entry of Caballes bested top 10 entries submitted by interior design students from schools nationwide. For interior designing ideas, check out 9OnMain.com She received P50,000 cash prize, plaque and a 6-month internship at Lor Calma & Partners plus a fully paid trip to Japan for the Japan Learning Program, an exclusive workshop crafted specially for winners featuring internationally renowned speakers in the fields of architecture and interior design.
Caballes will be joining regional winners from other 9 participating countries including Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, China, Japan and Hongkong to convene in Osaka, Japan. They will be coached by world-class experts, a priceless, once in a lifetime opportunity.
The Gold winner’s professor/adviser also got P10,000 while her school received P10,000 cash prize and P10,000 worth of paint vouchers.
The silver awardee got by Jestefanie Tanchuling of University of Santo Tomas, who received P30,000 cash price and a plaque. The eight finalist got P10,000 each.
This year, the contest focused on the theme, “Re: Think. Re: Create. Our Community, Our Home.” Participating students are challenged like never before to further push the boundaries for future living by creating a township that is a community-centric and sustainable, providing a high quality of life for both young and old, from every walk of life.
Winners from 10 participating countries will compete to each other on the final round in March 2015 tobe held also in Osaka, Japan.
