Do you still remember the viral video of a girl singing Jennifer Holiday’s “And I am Telling You” in the supermarket of SM Megamall? You know what guys, she’s now a certified recording artist.
The name of the girl I’m talking about is Zendee. Her viral video was posted on YouTube with the title “Random Girl,” garnered 2 million views, 14, 063 likes and more than 50, 000 comments. On the web, she became known as “Random Girl,” “Mystery Karaoke Girl,” “Viral Diva,” and Supermarket Superstar.”
Because of this video, it brought her to the attention of Warner Music Philippines, which offered her a recording contract. Zendee also caught the interest of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she was regarded as “the next big thing.”
I was invited in a press event for the CD album launch of Zendee, happened yesterday, April 30 at the Chef & Brewer Cafe and Restaurant.
Zendee’s debut album titled “I Believe” with the carrier single Runaway features six original compositions and three cover songs.
The nine-track album has amazing songs such as “The Ones You Love” written by Diane Eve Warren, “I Believe” by Lamberto Reyes Jr, “Go The Distance” written by Alan Menken, David Joel Zippel, “Hallelujah” written by Leonard Cohen, “ Love Takes Time ” written by Mariah Carey and Ben Margulies, “I Believe” composed of Flerry de Leon and her single “ Runaway ” written by world-class composers Andrew Fromm, Matt Bronleewe, Jordan Pruitt, & Tyler Hayes.
In the launching event, Zendee graced on stage and entertained the audience with her beautiful voice. She sang her carrier single ‘Runaway’ and it’s really impressive. The song is a twist of soul and pop and a bit of rnb. I’m also impressed the way she sang those international hit.s because it’s very powerful. Her voice is very pure. It’s very pleasing to my ears.
Just like Zendee, one of my favourite tracks on the album is “Hallelujah. It’s not just because it’s a related to God, because it touches my heart. There’s really something every time I’m hearing this song. I really like the version of Zendee on it.
Currently recording with Warner Music Philippines, Zendee keeps busy with frequent guesting on Party Pilipinas and Manny Many Prizes and others.
Zendee will doing some mall tours, special guest appearances and radio interviews to promote the album.
And guest what… Zendee will also perform as the special guest artist on Jason Mraz concert that’s gonna be happened on May 14, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
