Dubbed as the Condura Skyway Marathon (CSM) 2012: Run for the Mangroves, this annual run raises the bar once again by challenging running enthusiasts to conquer the Philippines’ first ever midnight marathon at the Metro Manila Skyway. The event is slated on Sunday, February 5, 2012, Sunday with race starts and finish at Filinvest Alabang, touted as the newest running destination in Manila.

With about 15,000 participants competing in six race categories (3k, 5k, 10k, 16k, 21k, and 42k), all of them can look forward to a very unique running experience as everyone goes up the Skyway!

Marathoners get to bask in the entire stretch of the Skyway that cross five Metro Manila cities—from Muntinlupa, Paranaque, Taguig, Pasay to Makati and back. This further underscores Condura Skyway Marathon’s mark as the premier running event in the country, and soon in the Asia Pacific Region.

Organized by runners for runners, this annual sporting event puts utmost priority on the safety and security of the participants by providing well-spaced and well-stocked hydration stations, professional medical teams and seasoned race marshals. And as a treat after the grueling race, the event will culminate in the Condura-Filinvest Village where runners, together with their families, can enjoy loads of entertainment, fireworks and product sampling. A mangroves wall also await the runners. This will be painted and decorated as a symbol of the runners’ commitment to save the Philippine mangroves.

A game-changer, the Condura Skyway Marathon has raised over P1.5 million since 2008. The proceeds have been used on notable projects that protect and care for the marine environment such as the Tubbataha Reefs, the Donsol whalesharks and the Bohol dolphins.

For the 2012 leg, CSM has acknowledged the importance of mangroves in preserving the Philippines’ ecosystem. It has committed to support the mangroves reforestation project in Sibugay Bay, Zamboanga that would benefit thousands of families living in the coastal areas. One runner donates 3 mangrove trees to the 10-hectare Condura Skyway Marathon Mangrove Forest that covers 3 barangays in the said location.

Long distance runners and even newbies get beautifully-crafted medals to cap their memorable running experience. For CSM, everyone is a winner! Cash prizes, trophies and gift items are in store for the top finishers in the Open and All-Filipino categories.

The Condura Skyway Marathon Registration Centers are open up to January 29, 2012. These are located in Riovana, Bonifacio Global City, Riovana in Regis Center, Katipunan and Festival Supermall Alabang.
