Involving to an advocacy program is such a tremendous way of helping less fortunate people. This is one way of speaking and acting on behalf, to participate fully in decisions made about their lives, and to have changes for better way of living.

Last Sunday in Barangay Caridad, Cavite, Golden ABC employees and group of bloggers participated to 2009 CNN Hero of the Year Efren Penaflorida’s advocacy project “Kariton Klasrum.”

Kariton Klasrum” was formed by Dynamic Teen Company (DTC), ) a local NGO headed by Efren “Kuya Efren” Penaflorida that teaches the unprivileged kids basic writing, reading, arithmetic, hygiene, character building values and educating them to make changes in their life. The group also conducts weekly feeding, first aid treatment of scabies and wounds, and values formation activities through their K4 Project (Kariton,Klasrum,Klinik at Kantin).

Golden ABC, the country’s fashion pioneer and owner of leading brands Penshoppe, Oxygen, Memo and Regatta  partnered the DTC  and comes up with the project “Get Up”, that will gives an assistant in providing knowledge to unprivileged children particularly in Barangay Caridad, an urban poor community in Cavite City.

“GABC believes that there are many who are inspired by Efren’s work and can be active agents of change in our country,” said Bernie Liu, CEO & President of Golden ABC.

Efren Penaflorida’s “Kariton Klasrum” has been making difference to thousands of unprivileged kids and becomes the inspirations of each of everyone.

“While Efren himself has been a valuable resource person and inspiration, GABC continues to make a difference by promoting the values of passion, volunteerism and teamwork towards making a positive change,” Liu added.

Pushing a pushcart and teaching kids on a Sunday morning was a different things to me. Looking those unprivileged kids joined the Kariton Klasrum really breaks my heart.  With a pitiful image on their face reminded me that I need to do something. Good deeds that will help these people to make a difference in their lives.
