Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago revealed she has stage 4 lung cancer on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2014. The Senator noted she’s not afraid of cancer.
In a press briefing at the Senate, the Philippines most popular senartor admitted that she has cancer of the left lung and undergo an extensive 6 weeks treatment.
The 69-year-old Senator is very optimistic she will overcome this challenge and will be able to get back to work. She said her doctors assuared her that she can still continue her Senator work.
Despite the fact that the Senator was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, she continued giving jokes to the press. “I’m very excited. I’m not kidding. I said, ‘Yes, I got cancer!’ Because now I’m entering another dimension of human life. That has always been my attitude.’” Santiago said.
Meanwhile, online netizens prayed for Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago’s immediate recovery from lung cancer as thousands of Filipinos started posting their prayers on Twitter and Facebook. Their messages have hashtag “#MiriamFight”.
